Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about booking, deposits, walk-ins and what to expect when you visit.

What should I play?

Most first-time visitors are not familiar with modern board games, and that is completely fine. Our staff are always happy to help you find the good stuff.

If you are newer to modern board games, we will usually guide you towards fun, accessible games that suit your group. That often means bringing over a few recommendations and teaching you one of them.

If you would rather explore independently, that is fine too. We still recommend asking us about anything you are thinking of playing, especially so you do not end up learning a game that is not suitable for your player count, experience level or booking length.

How long can I stay?

Non-members can reserve a table for up to 3 hours. Members can reserve tables for up to 5 hours.

You are welcome to stay and play longer for free if we do not need the table back. If we do need the table after your booking ends, we will try our best to let you know in advance.

If it is your first visit, we recommend booking for at least 2 hours to get the full experience. If you leave earlier than planned, you will still be charged for the full booking duration.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Yes, absolutely. We accept walk-ins whenever we have space.

We are a small venue with only seven tables, so we are often at capacity, especially in the evenings and at weekends. Booking is recommended to avoid disappointment and to help us make sure we have the right number of staff working.

I need to cancel or reschedule!

We know things come up. You can cancel or reschedule future bookings through your Goodtime Games account page up to two hours before your booking starts.

If you need to cancel at the last minute, please call us on 0161 445 0175.

When you book, we create an account using the email address you provided so that you can manage your bookings more easily.

Do you sell games too?

Yes. Because space is tight, and because we give priority to our games library, we do not display the vast majority of the games we have in stock.

Speak to a staff member in store or check out our shop page to browse what we have available. We offer free click and collect in store and nationwide delivery.

Do you offer children’s discounts?

The majority of games in our library have small parts that can be a choking hazard, as well as cards and components that are easily damaged. We do have a small selection of games for our youngest visitors; just ask a member of staff and we will help you find them.

Ages 0–6: free, for age-appropriate games only.

Ages 7–10: half-price, for age-appropriate games only.

Ages 11–16: charged normally.

Is there a deposit?

Yes, for non-members. We are a very small venue, so cancellations and no-shows can have a real impact on us.

Guest deposits are 25% of the total booking amount, or £5 — whichever is higher. The deposit is taken off your final bill when you pay at the end of your booking.

Members do not pay a deposit for normal bookings under 4 hours. For 4–5 hour member bookings, a £4.50 table deposit applies.
